Charlie passed away on March 9, 2009 from cancer.\u00a0 He was always there to help and happy to do so. He never complained and most of all was well known and loved by many people throughout our hobby. Over the years he touched the hearts \u2013 and cars \u2013 of many.<\/p><p>Charlie took on many roles within the TTC including a term as President. He was instrumental in developing and computerising the master plan for the lay out of the various marques and models and vendor stalls at British Car Day and for many years would personally be involved in the laying out of the field on the Saturday morning before BCD.<\/p><p>Each year, his friends at the Toronto Triumph Club award a special commemorative plaque in recognition of Charlie\u2019s passing and his unreserved devotion to his wife Sandy, his family and faithful Triumph Spitfire \u2018Gumby\u2019.<\/p><p>The recipient of the award is decided by the Executive Committee of the TTC and their decision is based on members who have demonstrated a similar devotion and dedication to the Club and as a reflection of the life values and spirit of friendship, which Charlie Conquergood always shared with us.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-65289de elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" data-id=\"65289de\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"divider.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-divider\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-divider-separator\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-54f8a11\" data-id=\"54f8a11\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3639d6b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3639d6b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>At the 40th British Car Day, the Charlie Conquergood Award was presented to two couples:\u00a0<\/p><p>&#8211; Ron and Linda Etty are long-time members who together have demonstrated the same, generous, disposition and commitment to the hobby that Charlie demonstrated. They have been deeply involved in the club and with BCD for many years. He managed our BCD volunteers for several years; she has also been a volunteer for many years and stepped up to play a vital role this year. His spare parts have been used by many, especially in the middle of longer trips when, you know, bad things can happen.<\/p><p>\u00a0&#8211; With the events of a May 2025 still fresh in our minds, we wanted to present this award to honour Dave Sims, and to also honour his spouse, Maggie, for their dedication to the Club and in particular to British Car Day. Together they organised and ran the event for 12 years, and they were lifelong partners who shared the interest and drive to make the TTC and BCD successful. Maggie played a vital role again this year in making BCD a success again this year!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e361be1
